Persimmons are weird

Persimmons. After many attempts to understand their appeal over the past few decades, I still don’t get them no matter how they’re utilized. An astringency that makes the inside of the mouth feel like it’s quickly growing hair. The tannin content is the cause. Too much of that can also mess up your stomach with lumps and blockage.

Persimmon season is ramping up in North Carolina. The most common species that grows here is the American Persimmon. Some people call them possum apples. The possums can have them.

No talk about persimmons on this show.
